Keep the Denison Wild
On Thursday, July 26th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the general public is cordially invited to Saugatuck's Oval Beach for a "Keep the Denison Wild" informational event sponsored by the newly formed Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance (SDCA).

This free event will feature live jazz by the Blue Coast Quintet. In addition, speakers will outline the mission and goals of the SDCA, give an introduction to The New York Times journalist Keith Schneider's report on development in the Saugatuck Dunes coastal region, and offer opportunities for citizens to get involved in efforts to protect and preserve the former Denison property.
William Milliken - former Republican Governor of the State of Michigan from 1969 to 1983 - recently wrote the following: "The former Denison is a showcase of Great Lakes landscapes - 420 acres of critical dune, globally-imperiled inter-dunal wetlands, coastal marsh, and a beautiful beach. It is also home to threatened plants and animals, as well as the ghost town of Singapore. It is against this backdrop that my wife, Helen, and I lend our voices to the growing chorus requesting the former Denison be completely preserved and protected."

Please walk, bike, or carpool and bring your own blanket or chair. For more information, please visit us at www.saugatuckdunescoastalalliance.org. Our website will be up and running very soon.
