Saugatuck Save Our Shoreline Campaign

Saugatuck SOS, a coalition assisting the City of Saugatuck in the purchase and preservation of the Denison-South property, announced an offer to purchase was made Wednesday August 27. Located between the Kalamazoo river channel and Saugatuck's Oval beach and adjacent to Ox Bow fine arts camp, the 161 acres of virtually untouched coastal dunes, forest, and wetlands is for sale and at risk of development.

Saugatuck SOS has received over 100 pledges totaling more than $1,300,000 so far. They need about $180,000 more for a $1,500,000 down payment by December 31.

Concerned Citizens supports Saugatuck's purchase of the Denison tract. "Making this land permanently public and undeveloped will be good all by itself," said Alison Swan, "and it will help create a buffer for Saugatuck Dunes State Park.

We wish to encourage you to help Saugatuck SOS and the City of Saugatuck meet the down payment by the December 31, 2003 deadline. If you haven't yet, please make your pledge!
