The Trail to the Beach, Most Popular in the Park
The most popular trail in the Park. Laketown and Holland refer to this as an "existing road." Note the closely spaced trees. The pipeline and/or access road would probably run through here. The rope is 20 feet long. Laketown and Holland have asked for a linear construction easement across the park that would be at least 40 feet wide. Among the DNR’s Parks and Recreation Bureau’s (Read their April 11 letter) concerns: high-risk erosion area, critical dunes, "significant tree removal and permanent forest canopy fragmentation." (Read the Kalamazoo Audubon Society letter.)
